about

Wrack announce their return on April 7th, 2023 with Altäre der Vergänglichkeit (German for altars of transience) – with guest contributions from Stef of Minas Morgul, Rigor Mortis of Hallig, and Frida Nordlys of Miscreation via Crawling Chaos. In 13 years of supposed silence, four albums have been worked on simultaneously.
Wrack stay true to their style and expand its expressive possibilities by adding acoustic instruments. The music is a mixture of atmospheric black metal and death/doom, spiced up with acoustic guitars, 7-string guitars, and ambient drones. The vocals range from high-pitched voiceless black metal frys to depressive screams and from death growls to clean vocals and choirs.
Altäre der Vergänglichkeit describes the spiritual atmosphere that emanates from the aesthetics of external and internal decay. The title comes from the lyrics of Forlorn I and Ruins I+II. The decay of the man-made, as well as the refuge and violence of the natural realm draw a deeply connected, but also rapt relationship to nature.
